Surface Fights

A wild, aggressive surface predator. Loves topwater lures and frogs, and grows very large in Jatiluhur.

Tips from Our Guides

Jatiluhur fishing tips

Leave at Dawn

The morning golden hour (05:30–08:00) is the best time. Fish are feeding and the water is still calm. Don't oversleep!

Use Bright Lures

At Jatiluhur, silver, gold, and chartreuse lures work very well for hampala. Bring a range of sizes from 5–10 cm.

Find the Fish Cages

The area around the fish-farm cages is a golden spot, with plenty of predators hunting small fish. Ask the skipper to take you there.

Bring Sunscreen and a Hat

A full day on the boat means strong sun. Wear SPF 50+ sunscreen, a hat, and a long-sleeved UV-protection shirt.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is fishing gear provided, or do I bring my own?

Please bring your own fishing gear, bait, and lures, we provide the boat and skipper. If you need tackle recommendations, ask us on WhatsApp!

How many people fit in one boat?

Up to 2 people per boat, for safety and comfortable fishing. For groups, we arrange several boats at once.

Does the trip go ahead if it rains?

It depends on the conditions. Light rain usually doesn't stop us, it's often the best time to fish. In a heavy storm we will reschedule for your safety.

Can I book on the day, or do I need to book ahead?

Last-minute bookings are fine as long as a boat is available. We recommend booking at least one day ahead to make sure a boat and skipper are free.

Is food provided?

Meals are not included in the package. We recommend bringing a packed lunch from home or buying food near the pier before boarding.

Can I take my catch home?

Of course! Everything you catch is yours. Bring a cool box or a large plastic bag if you want to take your fish home.
